This book pays tribute to the scientific achievements of Otto Dempwolff (25 May 1871 – 27 Nov 1938), late Professor for African languages and one of the distinguished founders of the Department for African and Ethiopian Languages, University of Hamburg/Germany. It consists of two versions (manuscript and typewritten) of his groundbreaking lectures on the systematic introduction of Proto-Bantu held from 1930 to 1935, and still of considerable interest to the study of the Bantu languages.
