This dictionary has been designed and written specifically for students who are studying Chichewa (Malawi/Zambia) in a university environment. The vocabulary covers those words which students will most likely encounter in speaking and reading the language during their course of academic study. Many entries are accompanied by examples that illustrate the meaning, the grammatical form, or common usage of the item. The initial reference section provides a brief summary of the grammatical rules of Chichewa. The main section consists of a Chichewa-English and English-Chichewa dictionary. The appendices following the main dictionary entries include reference sections for numerals, months, days and seasons, people and place names, and Chewa names.
