The series Siegener Beiträge zur Soziologie is meant to provide a forum for the publication of innovative studies, especially of younger scholars. Reflecting the pluralism of available methodologies, the series will comprise studies that have gained their results using either qualitative, especially ehtnographical, or quantitative methods.

Topics will be drawn from political sociology, sociostructural analysis of modern societies, and ethnography of non-European societies and cultures. Furthermore, the aim will be to transcend the traditional disciplinary borders between sociology, cultural anthropology, political science and history. The series will also publish the Helge Pross–Lectures, held by the winners of the Helge Pross–Award for the sociology of family and gender at the the University of Siegen/Germany every four years.
