With about 700 pieces of textiles and clothing from 17 African countries the Iwalewa-Haus – the Centre for African Culture of the University of Bayreuth –possesses one of the most important collections in Germany. The focus of the collection is on clothing and textiles originating in West Africa. With this exhibition catalogue the Iwalewa-Haus offers this unique treasures to the interested public for the first time.
