Hausa

Hausa is spoken as a primary or secondary language by appr. 40 to 50 million people in Nigeria, Niger, northern Ghana, northern Togo and in Sudan in the area around the upper reaches of the Blue Nile. Among the Chadic languages Hausa has by far the largest number of speakers and at the same time is one of the most important linguae francae of Africa.
